In Cat, Rat, and Rap, the first three books, the beginning pages have no words, only pictures. This really piques a child’s imagination. ’What’s going to happen?’ It motivates the children to want to read the books.

The books are marvelous as we can get through them in one sitting – adds to a child’s sense of achievement.

The children love the superheroes and the illustrations. They are so easy to read that even young children ask to read them!

I like using the Superstar Reading series in my class because:
1. The books are short, only 11 pages long and they hold a child’s attention.
2. The stories are told in rhyme.
3. The use of repetition helps the children learn a specific letter or word.
4. Sight words are kept to a minimum.
5. The illustrations are wonderful and make the books come alive.
6. I love the series!

These books are concise and simple. They take the child to each new level with ease. The children find them attractive and exciting to read, and they gain confidence in their reading skills from book to book.

I’m helping out with a project designed to boost English literacy amongst young isixhosa learners (in South Africa). These books are a wonderful addition to our support material.

Thank you so much. The readers have been a Godsend to my autistic student. I started working with her this year. She began 4th grade not knowing how to read. By November, she was reading!. Her Education Specialist was floored because she had been working with her for three years. By the end of her third grade year, she was able to read the first 75 sight words, but could not read text in sentences.
She made such remarkable progress that I wanted you to know the difference SuperStar Readers made for her.

A Lower El student finds our books funny - one of the main goals of our stories and illustrations! We particularly wanted the books to appeal to a wide age range and skill level and be short and easy enough for either very young children or children who find reading a bit of a challenge for various reasons. But the storylines and pictures should be able to hold the attention of all age groups too, and make all age groups keen to read the next book. We are so glad we have met our goal!

I had a 12 year old student who had never read an entire book in her life. When she read Cat cover to cover, we both began to cry. She has since made amazing progress. I have used the reading series with other struggling readers with amazing success. Thank you Superstar Readers!!!

I love Superstar Readers! I used the series in my classroom and the children actually asked to read them, something that never happened with the other readers I had used in the past. I am now retired from the classroom and use the books to tutor students who need extra help with learning how to read with great results.

My name is Stacey S. and I am a teacher. I have been using the SSR books in my classroom for 5 years. The children in my classroom enjoy the Super Star characters, they love how Cat can fly and Zap is so strong he can lift a bus out of a rut. As a teacher I find the books flow from one story to the next. The books introduce new sight words on the inside cover so you can review them with a child before you read the book. The children in my class ask for the Wordsearch Worksheets that go with their books. This helps the child preview (or review) the sight words in the book. The first set of books start off only with phonetic words, and all the books let you know what new sounds are in that book so you can get prepared before reading a story.
I highly recommend these books for any Pre-K to 1 st grade classroom.
